Titanium Fittings Supplier for Heat Exchanger Project | WPT2/WPT7/WPT12, ASTM B363 + B16.9, Tube-Grade Matched

Meta Description: Titanium Fittings supplier for heat exchanger projects — ASTM B363 WPT2/WPT5/WPT7/WPT12 butt weld fittings matched to B338 tube grade, ASME B16.9 geometry, SCH5S–40S, pickled, bevel-capped, EN 10204 3.1 heat-traceable. Grade by medium+temperature+crevice risk; tube/fitting/flange alignment reviewed before PI.

Why Heat-Exchanger Fittings Need a Different RFQ

A heat exchanger is not a straight pipe run. The fitting lives next to:

  • Tube sheet (titanium or titanium-clad)
  • B338 tube (Gr1/Gr2/Gr7/Gr12)
  • Shell nozzle, channel head, flange (B381 F2 / B462)
  • Hot brine / seawater / reducing-acid side depending on duty

So the fitting grade must match the tube-side corrosion logic — not be picked from a catalogue habit. Gr2 tube → Gr2 fittings; hot crevice → Gr12 or Gr7 on both tube and fitting; otherwise you protect the tube and leave the elbow as the weak link.

Grade Alignment Table (tube ↔ fitting)

Tube side (B338) Fitting grade (B363) Duty
Gr1 / Gr2 WPT2 Seawater condenser, oxidizing chloride, ambient–moderate T
Gr2 + hot brine >~80°C WPT12 (or WPT7) Shell-tube evaporator, MSF/MED channel piping
Gr7 tube WPT7 Reducing-acid excursion, Pd repassivation
Gr12 tube WPT12 Hot chloride economy route
Gr5 (rare, high-pressure) WPT5 Structural/high-strength nozzle only, not corrosion-default

Rule: fitting grade ≥ tube corrosion margin. Never Gr2 fitting behind Gr7 tube.

Fitting Scope for HX Projects

  • Channel-head nozzles: 90LR elbow, reducing tee, conc/ecc reducer
  • Tube-sheet stub ends (Type A/B) paired with backing flange
  • Vent/drain eccentric reducers (no air pocket)
  • Return bends / 180° for U-tube channel loops
  • Orbital-weld-ready bevels (37.5°, capped, argon-clean)

All ASTM B363 / ASME SB363 material, ASME B16.9 dimensions, MSS SP-43 for stub ends.

Wall Selection (no over-spec)

Service Common wall Note
Seawater channel SCH 5S / 10S No corrosion allowance in Ti
Hot brine header SCH 10S / 40S By pressure code + thermal expansion
HP channel (>60 bar) SCH 40S+ Wall by B36.19M, not by corrosion

Crevice & Weld Discipline (HX-specific)

  • Tube-sheet crevice is the #1 failure point — fitting is secondary, but bevel cleanliness matters
  • Dual-side argon purge on site weld; straw/silver acceptable, blue/grey rejected
  • No steel brush, no carbon marker, no iron pickup on bevel face
  • Backing flange (CS/SS) OK on stub end — only Ti wets fluid
  • Galvanic isolation at flange face (non-metallic sleeve/washer)

Retubing / MRO Support

  • Small-qty elbow+tee+reducer+stub restock for turnaround
  • Match original heat logic — supply original grade + cert scope, not "equivalent by eye"
  • Emergency window: rotating WPT2 small-bore heat, pack same working week after lot confirm
  • New-build bundle: project heat, RT/UT/PT per PO, 3.2 TPI PO-fronted

Documentation Package (project-audit ready)

  • EN 10204 3.1: measured O/H/N/C + Fe (+Al/V / +Pd), tensile, heat-to-ingot
  • Tag heat = MTC heat = PL heat (three-way match)
  • PMI on Gr7 (Pd verified by chemistry, not label)
  • CI/PL/COO/HS statement (WCO base 8108.90; destination sub-heading via broker)
  • Pre-ship photos: tag + bevel + crate seal

FAQ — Titanium Fittings for Heat Exchanger Projects

Q1: Must fitting grade equal tube grade?
A: Corrosion margin must match. Gr2 tube + Gr2 fitting is standard; if tube is Gr7/Gr12 for hot crevice, fitting follows — never downgrade the fitting.

Q2: Which grade for seawater condenser channel?
A: Gr2 (WPT2) for ambient/aerated seawater. Above ~80°C concentrated brine → Gr12 or Gr7.

Q3: Can you supply tube + fitting same heat family?
A: Grade-aligned supply yes; same ingot only when PO bundles tube+fitting from one melt — stated before PI, not implied.

Q4: Stub end + CS backing flange for channel?
A: Common cost move. Ti contacts fluid; isolate galvanically at bolt face.

Q5: MRO small qty for retubing?
A: Handled — same cert scope as new build, no moq drama.

Q6: HF in cleaning cycle?
A: Red line. Flag before PI; titanium excluded from fluoride-acid service.

Q7: 3.2 for class submission?
A: PO-fronted TPI (SGS/BV/TÜV/DNV). Cannot be back-built from 3.1 after shipment.

Q8: Orbital weld ready?
A: Bevel 37.5° machined, capped, argon-clean. Site WPS/qualification is installer scope.

Q9: Large bore channel nozzle?
A: Welded/fabricated WPT2/WPT12, project heat, RT per PO. Not "shelf stock".

Q10: HS code?
A: WCO 6-digit 8108.90 base; country sub-heading via broker. Process statement supplied.

About: Baoji Titanium Valley HX-project line — ASTM B363 WPT2/WPT5/WPT7/WPT12 butt weld fittings, ASME B16.9, tube-grade aligned, pickled, bevel-capped, heat-traceable, EN 10204 3.1. Grade chosen by tube-side duty (seawater / hot brine / reducing acid), not by "titanium" as a blanket word. No Gr2 fitting behind Gr7 tube, no phantom same-ingot claim, no cert downgrade on small MRO qty.
