Product Overview

Nickel 201 Tubing Exporter, Fast Dispatch | UNS N02201, ASTM B161/B163, >315°C Caustic Duty

Meta Description: Nickel 201 (UNS N02201) tubing exporter from Baoji — low-carbon pure nickel for service above 315°C caustic/alkali. ASTM B161 seamless + B163 exchanger tube, annealed, OD 6-219mm, PMI per lot, EN 10204 3.1, 3.2 TPI PO-fronted. Stock sizes dispatch fast after heat confirm.

Why Nickel 201 Exists (One Line)

Nickel 201 = commercially pure nickel with carbon capped at 0.02% max (vs 0.15% for Nickel 200). That low carbon removes the driving force for graphitization — the failure mode where carbon precipitates at grain boundaries above 315°C (600°F), turning ductile nickel brittle with no surface warning.

Below 315°C → Nickel 200 is the economical choice. Above 315°C hot caustic → Nickel 201 is not "premium", it is the only safe commercially-pure-nickel option.

Standard Split (no mislabeling)

Duty Spec Note
Seamless pipe / general tube ASTM B161 / ASME SB-161 UNS N02201, annealed
Condenser / heat-exchanger tube ASTM B163 / ASME SB-163 Flare test + 40% min elongation; B161 does not cover this duty interchangeably
Welded tube ASTM B730 Cost route, not for high-pressure exchanger by default
Welded pipe ASTM B725 Separate from B161 seamless

We never tag welded as B161 seamless. Standard is named on the PO, printed on the MTC.

Chemistry Gate (check carbon first)

Element N02201 limit
Ni + Co (min) 99.0%
Carbon (max) 0.02%
Fe 0.40%
Mn / Si 0.35% / 0.35%
Cu 0.25%
S 0.010%

If the MTC shows C >0.02%, it is not N02201 — no matter what the tag says.

Mechanical (annealed)

  • Tensile: ≥345 MPa (50 ksi)
  • Yield (0.2%): ≥80 MPa (12 ksi)
  • Elongation: ≥35% (B161), ≥40% (B163 flare-tested)
  • Density: 8.89 g/cm³; Thermal conductivity ~70 W/m·K

Ready-Stock Window (typical)

Parameter Range
OD 6-219mm (1/4"-8"); fractional 1/4"/3/8"/1/2" common
Wall 0.5-12mm (SCH 5S-160 on request)
Length Random / fixed 3000-6000mm / U-bend per drawing
Condition Annealed (default), bright annealed, stress-relieved by agreement
Form Seamless tube / pipe / exchanger tube / U-bend / coiled

"Fast Dispatch" — Exactly What It Means

  • In-stock B161/B163 N02201 sizes: pick → PMI → hydro/eddy test → tag → crate → dispatch fast after PO + heat confirm
  • Non-standard wall, U-bend drawing, special surface, or 3.2 TPI → DFM/inspection slot quoted honestly, not a fake "24h" promise
  • Export pack: VCI wrap + end caps + ISPM-15 crate + heat-number label on bundle and crate
  • EXW Baoji / FOB Shanghai / CIF-DAP options; air dispatch for shutdown emergency quoted separately

QC Before the Bundle Leaves

  1. Heat cert EN 10204 3.1 — carbon verified ≤0.02%
  2. PMI/OES per lot (N02201 ≠ N02200 ≠ alloy 400)
  3. Hydrostatic test or approved eddy-current per B829 general requirements
  4. B163 flare test when exchanger spec invoked
  5. OD/wall/length gauge + end-face inspect
  6. UT on heavy wall on request
  7. Heat No. = bundle tag = MTC cross-link
  8. 3.2 (SGS/BV/TÜV) TPI PO-fronted, never back-built

Where It Runs

  • Caustic soda evaporators (final-effect hot section)
  • Molten/near-molten NaOH & KOH transfer
  • Chlor-alkali high-temp headers
  • Furnace muffles, combustion boats, high-temp reducing atmosphere
  • Vacuum/electronic tubing (low out-gassing)
  • Heat-exchanger bundles where 200 would graphite-embrittle

Real Boundaries (no overclaim)

  • Not for strong oxidizers: conc. HNO₃, wet chlorine excursion → alloy review
  • Stagnant seawater → design review; flowing seawater OK
  • High-sulfur high-temp gas → Ni-sulfide low-melt risk, excluded
  • 201 is chosen for temperature, not for "stronger" — tensile is slightly lower than 200

FAQ — Nickel 201 Tubing Exporter

Q1: When MUST I use 201, not 200?
A: Continuous service above 315°C (600°F), especially hot caustic. Below that, 200 is fine and cheaper.

Q2: Is "fast dispatch" same-day?
A: For in-stock B161/B163 N02201 sizes with confirmed heat + PO → rapid dispatch, not a vague promise. Custom wall/U-bend/3.2 TPI gets a real inspection slot, not a fake 24h.

Q3: How do I verify it's really 201?
A: MTC carbon ≤0.02% + PMI/OES lot check. Anything above 0.02% C is not N02201.

Q4: B161 or B163 for exchanger?
A: Exchanger/condenser → B163 (flare test). General seamless pipe → B161. We quote the spec your duty calls for.

Q5: Strength lower than 200?
A: Yes, slightly (345 vs 380 MPa tensile). At >315°C, avoiding graphitization matters more than 35 MPa.

Q6: Welding filler?
A: ERNi-1 (GTAW/GMAW) / ENi-1 (SMAW); no stainless filler. WPS per ASME IX F-No.41.

Q7: U-bend / coiled?
A: Yes — U-bend to bundle DWG, coiled lengths for instrument/capillary runs.

Q8: MTC with small lot?
A: EN 10204 3.1 every shipment; 3.2 TPI named at PO.

Q9: HS code?
A: Nickel tube base 7506.20 (verify by destination/Broker) — not fastener/plate code.

Q10: Biggest procurement error?
A: Buying on price, taking N02200 into a >315°C evaporator because the tag said "pure nickel". Carbon, not price, decides survival.
