Product Overview

Titanium Fasteners for Medical Device Assembly | F67/F136 Route + F468 Equipment Route, Full Traceability

Meta Description: Titanium Fasteners for medical device assembly — implant-adjacent route (ASTM F67 / F136 ELI, ISO 5832-2/3, biocompatibility + cleanroom wash + lot traceability) and equipment-structure route (ASTM F468 Gr2/Gr5, passivated, PMI 100%, MTC 3.1). "Medical grade" only when the PO names the standard.

Two Routes — Pick by Contact Class, Not by Marketing

Route Standard Grade Use
Implant / patient-contact ASTM F67, ASTM F136, ISO 5832-2, ISO 5832-3 CP Ti Gr1-4 (F67); Ti-6Al-4V ELI Gr23 (F136) Bone screw adjacents, dental abutment screws, implant-handling fixtures, sterile-barrier hardware
Device structure (non-contact) ASTM F468 + B348 bar Gr2/R50400, Gr5/R56400 Imaging gantry, surgical-table frame, enclosure, robot arm brackets, reusable instrument bodies

"Medical grade" is meaningless unless the PO names F67/F136 (implant) or F468+clean-process (equipment). We do not relabel industrial Gr5 as implant grade.

Implant-AdJacent Route — What We Control

  • Material: F136 ELI (O≤0.13%, low interstitials) or F67 CP Ti — mill cert to EN 10204 3.1 minimum
  • Traceability: melt heat → bar → finished part → laser serial/UDI-ready tag
  • Machining: Swiss-type CNC / 5-axis, dedicated titanium fixtures (no carbon-steel cross-contamination)
  • Thread: rolled preferred for fatigue; cut only on geometry justification
  • Cleanliness: ultrasonic clean, solvent-rinse validation, no cutting-oil residue, particle-free pack
  • Surface: passivation per ASTM F86 / nitric passivation + optional electropolish (Ra per drawing, typically 0.2-0.4 µm for implant surfaces)
  • Docs: MTC 3.1, CMM/FAI, cleaning validation summary, biocompatibility support per ISO 10993 (OEM-led)

Equipment-Structure Route (F468 Gr2/Gr5)

  • Gr2: corrosion + MRI-friendly non-magnetic, lower preload
  • Gr5: strength/weight for gantry/arm brackets; dry-film lube for anti-gall
  • 100% PMI (Gr2≠Gr5 not by colour)
  • Passivation + clean wash (no fluoride residue, neutral rinse sign-off)
  • EN 10204 3.1; 3.2 TPI PO-fronted
  • Non-magnetic advantage stated factually — Ti is MRI-compatible, not "magically clinical"

Cleanliness & Contamination Control

  1. Degrease with medical-process-compatible coolant
  2. Pickle/passivate (nitric system, no over-etch)
  3. Ultrasonic clean + DI-water rinse (blind threads flushed)
  4. Particle / ferroxyl iron-check on request
  5. Vacuum-seal or clean-room bag, desiccant optional
  6. Label = heat No. + DWG rev + lot + MTC cross-link

QC Release (medical-route minimum)

  • Chemistry OES confirmation (ELI interstitials: O/N/C/H/Fe)
  • Tensile/yield from heat cert; thread GO/NO-GO 100%
  • CMM first-article; critical dims per drawing
  • Surface Ra measured, not estimated
  • Burr-free, no alpha-case, no embedded tool residue
  • Traceability record retained per ISO 13485 / 21 CFR Part 820 expectations

Anti-Galling & Assembly Notes

  • Clean threads + MoS₂/PTFE dry film (equipment route)
  • Implant route: lubrication per device master spec, not generic anti-seize
  • Matched nut grade; torque from Ti modulus (~110 GPa), not steel table
  • Galvanic isolation when mating SS/Al/Co-Cr

FAQ — Titanium Fasteners for Medical Assembly

Q1: Is Gr5 "medical grade"?
A: Gr5 (F468) is excellent for device structures (non-patient-contact). Implant contact requires F136 ELI / F67 — different standard, different cert chain. We won't blur the line.

Q2: Can you supply F136 ELI with 3.1?
A: Yes — mill cert EN 10204 3.1 minimum, heat-to-part traceability, ELI chemistry (O≤0.13%). 3.2 TPI PO-fronted.

Q3: Do you do biocompatibility testing?
A: Material-level ISO 10993 support supplied where applicable; final device biocompatibility is OEM responsibility. We provide chemistry, cleanliness, and process records.

Q4: Cleanroom machining?
A: Final clean + passivation + ultrasonic wash + sealed pack under controlled process; full cleanroom assembly quoted per PO scope. Dedicated Ti fixtures, no steel cross-contamination.

Q5: Rolled or cut thread?
A: Rolled default for fatigue (implant-adjacent); cut for fine/left/MJ on drawing justification.

Q6: UDI / laser serial?
A: UDI-ready laser mark available; format per OEM UDI schema.

Q7: MRI safety?
A: Titanium is non-ferromagnetic — MRI-compatible structurally. Final device safety still under OEM risk file.

Q8: ISO 13485 holder?
A: QMS evidence + traceability pack provided per PO scope; audit-support docs available. Confirm current cert scope before qualification.

Q9: HF / fuming nitric in clean line?
A: Excluded — red line for titanium, especially in medical cleanliness.

Q10: Lead time?
A: F468 equipment stock → rapid dispatch; F136/F67 implant route → DFM + material confirmation + clean-process window quoted after PO spec freeze.

About: Baoji Titanium Valley medical-device fastener desk — two honest routes: implant-adjacent (ASTM F67 / F136 ELI, ISO 5832-2/3, clean wash, full heat-to-part traceability, MTC 3.1) and equipment-structure (ASTM F468 Gr2/Gr5, passivated, PMI 100%). No "medical grade" claim without the PO naming the standard. No Gr5-relabel-as-implant, no fluoride residue, no steel cross-contamination, no cert downgrade. Lot confirmed before PI; tag = DWG rev = MTC = heat.
